Campaign sign for Maria Lorenz for Elizabeth Board of Education.

About Me

I'm running for Elizabeth Board of Education !

For more than 16 years, I have called Elizabeth home. As a mother of two and a dedicated advocate, I am recognized for my outspoken presence at Board of Education meetings—fighting for special education services language access for bilingual families & more.

Platform

Simple.... I am ready to A.C.T.

Accountability & Compliance: Enforce strict district oversight, eliminate political patronage, and ensure full legal compliance with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and student support services.

Commitment to Parent Voice & Inclusion: Mandate professional translators at all public board meetings for Spanish-speaking families, support English Language Learners (ELL), and ensure special education families have a seat at policy tables.

Transparency & Fiscal Audits: Conduct independent forensic audits of the school board budget to ensure taxpayer dollars directly reach classroom instruction and facility repairs.

Story of Grit and Determination

They told me that because of my race, I should lower my expectations. They told me community college was my only path—not because it was more affordable, but because of who they assumed I was. I was a high school dropout, and the system tried to write me off.

But I refused to let that be my story.

I am Maria Lorenz, your candidate for the Elizabeth Board of Education, Position #2.

My journey is built on grit, determination, and an unwavering belief that every child can succeed when given the proper academic and emotional tools.

I know what it feels like to be marginalized and overlooked, which is why I have dedicated my life to ensuring no student in our district ever feels that way.

I deliver real results with proven outcomes that speak themselves. Making a meaningful impact for you and your family.
